Thanks to Family, Friends and Fans,

The results of our “Git-r-Done for John Broge Rally” have met and exceeded our greatest expectations. With your help, we accomplished much in six short weeks!

Led by Trenton Rotary, the committee was composed of many groups and individuals. We solicited others to be part of the dream team. This core team worked together and dreamed together.

The Private Sector and the Public Sector joined the Volunteer sector to do what none could have accomplished on their own. The City of Wyandotte, and the City of Trenton were both there from the very start. The Wyandotte Schools and the Jo Brighton Center made significant contributions.

Joining Trenton Rotary and the volunteer sector was the Rotary Club of Wyandotte. The Wyandotte Jaycees, the Woodhaven Rotary and the Taylor Rotary also made significant contributions. The committee also relied on the Racing Community, Trenton Outboard Racing Club and fellow racers to participate. And they came through Big Time! In a remarkable show of solidarity and heart, many traveled long distances to be with John.

The private sector’s involvement was also huge factor. National City Bank and Monroe Bank and their “volunteers” were essential to keeping track of the numbers. John’s employer, BASF rose to the occasion and displayed a corporate compassion rarely exhibited. From the corporate level to John’s coworkers, donations of auction items and manpower were a major ingredient for our success. The folks at Crystal Gardens showed why they are the largest, oldest and best banquet facility in the area.

Finally, John’s Family was a key component that gave focus to the committee. From John’s Grandma Ruth, to his dad Bob and Joanie, and to his mom Judy, the source of John’s attitude of gratitude is evident. But it’s John’s wife Lynne and his two boys JR and Leland that provide the fire, focus and determination to do “whatever it takes to . . . Git-r-Done!

This coalition of concerned and caring citizens stepped up to the plate and “Got-r-Done” because we had passion and purpose. We had heart! Thank you to everyone who attended and who participated. Your generosity of spirit speaks volumes to the caring compassion of our Downriver community.
